Goro Akechi/Crow from Persona 5 Royal. While friendly and charismatic on the surface, there's more to him than meets the eye. 18 in canon, but can be aged up for meme/PSL purposes.

PERMISSIONS & OPT-OUT
backtagging Yes. I’ll always backtag threads! If the tag is several months old or something though I may drop it for the sake of keeping things current, but if we have a thread you’d absolutely like to keep feel free to PM me about it.
threadjacking Yes depending. I’m fine with threadjacking on network posts but if you’d like to elsewhere please ask me first.
fourthwalling Maybe, ask first.
mindreading Yes, though Goro will absolutely not receive any mindreading attempt positively.
physical contact Yes, though how it will be received depends on the type of physical contact. If it’s for fighting then Goro will retaliate accordingly. If the contact is friendly he may allow it depending on the person and the exact situation since he’d rather keep up his appearance, but as a general rule he tends to not make physical contact with people really at all and would probably be uncomfortable. Any advances towards him would be rebuffed similarly, potentially by force depending on how bold you are.
shipping/kissing Goro doesn’t really do people very well normally so kissing would end badly and any shipping attempts would likely be ignored since he only cares really about his rival. It’s not you it’s him etc.
fighting/injury Yes! Goro will eagerly fight anyone who challenges him, though I can’t promise he’d go at all easy. Injuries are fine too but anything beyond minor needs to be discussed.
character death Not without prior discussion.
Goro’s persona grants him the ability to force “mental shutdowns” in people, causing them to go berserk and act in ways they wouldn’t normally. This is not an ability I would have him use at all without warning, and it’s unlikely in general he’d use it unless an event made it necessary. If you’d like to completely opt out of this ability’s use in any capacity, please let me know. Please let me know if you’d also like to opt out of playing with Goro period for whatever reason.

CHARACTER INFORMATION

CHARACTER NAME: Goro Akechi
CANON: Persona 5 Royal
TIMELINE: Just before the collapse of Maruki’s Palace
AGE: 18

REFERENCE: Goro on the Wiki!

PERSONALITY:
Goro’s personality is best described with this one sentence from his wiki page when discussing the design change he undergoes during a pivatol twist in Persona 5’s narrative: ”Much like with Loki's design, [his costume] alludes to a lack of agency, and is meant to give a chaotic feeling and invoke the question "what's the real you?" From the very moment Goro is introduced to the player, the character you come to know is one that’s been completely fabricated. He is, quite literally in some cases, wearing a mask for a large majority of his original showing in Persona. Goro is a complicated character as much as he is a tragic one. Having been born the illegitimate child of the game’s “true” villain Masayoshi Shido, Goro’s aim throughout is to get himself to a point where he can force Shido to apologize for the crime of having his mother conceive him out of wedlock (which led to her suicide) as well as gain the satisfaction of tearing the man down when he’s reached the highest point of his life. Due to losing his mother at a young age, Goro’s young life was turbulent and lacked any real support network, quickly turning him into a guarded and bitter person. There isn’t anyone in the world that he trusts other than himself, and as a result the face he wears for other people is a disguise. It’s a defense mechanism. He’s naturally charismatic and charming, as well as friendly and fiercely intelligent. It quickly earns him his reputation and minor fame as an “Ace Detective”, a job that he uses to pursue his own agenda in seeking his revenge against Shido. In reality, everything Goro does publicly- be it his personality to the way he acts and carries himself- is shielding who he truly is as well as his true intentions. He makes it seem as if he’s working to solve the cases of mental shutdowns causing multiple tragedies all across Japan when, in reality, he’s the one who is the culprit behind them. His view of people and society as a whole is twisted to the point where he’s able to carry out his plans without remorse, yet at the same time wishes to keep a perfect public image for himself since he desires to be wanted by people.

Goro is an extremely competitive person who does not like to lose at anything. He’s often found subtly bragging about his achievements, never passing up an opportunity to show off subtly in any and all situations. He makes difficult tasks seem effortless while holding up a deceptively humble exterior. Yet, when he’s ever bested by the protagonist, he finds himself utterly consumed with the desire to be better. In a way, the protagonist drives him just as much as he infuriates him. In fact, Goro tells the protagonist to his face that he hates him, listing off the protagonist’s various attributes that make him better than Goro himself. In a way, it’s Goro alluding to wishing that he could have attained what the protagonist has in the type of person he’s become. They’re equals as much as they are different in a lot of ways, and it’s a huge reason why the protagonist truly is one of the only people in the world that Goro really cares about. Everyone else either simply exists as a means to an end, or as an obstacle in the way of his pursuits.

In Royal, Goro has dropped all pretenses of his previous kind persona. While he isn’t outright an asshole to strangers, it’s safe to assume that he avoids interacting with people as much as necessary since he’s no longer operating using his Detective image. When it comes to interactions with the protagonist and the rest of the Phantom Thieves, Goro’s demeanor is incredibly blunt and cool. He’s rarely light hearted or upbeat about anything, not particularly prone to joking around or being anything but serious about the task at hand. Their goals line up, and once again he’s working with them against a common enemy and knows better than to shoot himself in the foot for the sake of his own pride. Despite his Detective persona being largely a farse, Goro’s intelligence and knack for quick decision making wasn’t. There are times where he takes the place of the party’s usual navigator, able to analyze the situation and enemies they face on sight and provide feedback as to what needs to be done to press onwards.

ABILITIES: In the world of Persona 5, Goro has the ability to summon a creature to his aid known as a “Persona” in a realm that exists in the cognition of people known as the Metaverse. Just like Ren, he has the Wild Card ability which allows him to use multiple Personas. Unlike Ren however, his usage of it is poor enough that he’s only able to summon two initially: Robin Hood and Loki. Loki appears only after he reveals his true intentions to the protagonist and the rest of the Phantom Thieves, resulting in a voluntary costume change making him the only character capable of doing so. However, as of his canonpoint, his persona has upgraded to being Hereward (and is as of now the only persona he can summon). In addition to this, his respective Personas’ ability is unique in that it allows him to cause both shadows and people to go on rampages, resulting in them undergoing the “mental shutdowns” he fabricated to further his career as a Detective. It’s an ability that he uses on himself as well in his final battle with the Phantom Thieves prior to the events of Royal.
